Sundee T. Frazier is the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe New Talent award-winning author of Brendan Buckley’s Universe and Everything in It, Brendan Buckley’s Sixth-Grade Experiment, and The Other Half of My Heart. Her other books feature an irresistible 10-year-old entrepreneur. Cleo Edison Oliver: Playground Millionaire garnered a 2017 Washington State Book Award nomination and has been used by schools and districts around the country for their all-school and all-district reads. Frazier’s heartfelt, entertaining stories address subjects close to her heart: biracial/bicultural identity, growing up in interracial families, and multi-generational dynamics. Her books have been nominated for twelve state children’s choice awards and been recognized by the Children’s Book Council (Notable SocialStudies Trade Books for Young People), Bank Street College of Education, and Kirkus Reviews (Best Children’s Books of the Year). Bank Street Bookstore chose Brendan Buckley as one of its “40 Favorite Books from the Last 40 years.” Her latest novel, Mighty Inside (Levine Querido, 2021) was inspired by her African-American family’s integrating a white neighborhood in 1950s Spokane.
Frazier, a graduate of the Vermont College of Fine Arts, lives near Seattle, WA with her husband and two daughters.
