ERIC BATTLE
Eric J. Battle is an illustrator, curator & art director whose career has covered the spectrum of comic books and graphic novels, children’s books, fashion, and advertising. He is most recognized for his dynamic & compelling visuals, and has illustrated the stories of many popular icons, from Spider-Man and the X-Men to Batman and Godzilla. His collaborators include bestselling novelist L.A. Banks (on her Vampire Huntress Legends novel series), World Fantasy Award-winning author Nnedi Okorafor, AMC’s “Walking Dead” producer Gale Anne Hurd, and Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin.
Eric acted as curator, art director & illustrator on the Philadelphia Jazz Project (PJP) coffee table book Philadelphia Jazz Stories Illustrated and for the graphic novel BLAM!: Black Lives Always Mattered!: Hidden African American Philadelphia of the 20th Century for Temple University’s Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection. In June 2022, he exhibited original artwork in “The Artist’s Experience: From Brotherman to Batman” at New York City’s Society of Illustrators. His client list includes Night Kitchen Interactive, Legendary Motion Pictures & Comic Books, Marvel Comics, DC Entertainment, Philadelphia Jazz Project, Top Cow, Aspen MLT, Inc., Dynamite Entertainment, Valiant Entertainment, Dark Horse, National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), Beveridge Seay, Del Rey/Random House, St. Martin’s Press, Scholastic Books/Just Us Books, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Swarthmore College, and the Please Touch Museum of Philadelphia.
In October 2023, Eric was recruited by the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) to add his dynamic design & visual sensibilities to upcoming coin & medal designs.
