Andrea Longton, CFA is a mom with a day job. She is most proud of her family: three beautiful children, Cora, Lucy, and George – all born at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington; husband, Kyle; and family dog, Fritzi. Andrea’s joy is found on sunny days at local parks or, more recently, taking long family walks throughout northern Virginia.
Andrea describes her “day job” – a social justice investor – as one dedicated to driving capital to low-wealth communities throughout the United States. Over the course of her career, Andrea has raised over $350 million for social justice investments in the United States and has advised on over $1.5 billion in other social impact capital campaigns worldwide. Her experiences and relationships enable her to translate the needs of multiple stakeholders – communities, investors, and government leaders – to deliver tailored solutions that tackle complex issues.
Throughout her career, Andrea has listened to and partnered with people and communities in the United States who are unable to access the country’s traditional financial systems. Andrea understands that living outside the economic mainstream does not make one uncreditworthy.
Andrea currently serves as Senior Vice President of Financial Services at Opportunity Finance Network (OFN), the national network of CDFIs (Community Development Financial Institutions) dedicated to driving capital to low-income communities across the United States. Andrea’s role at OFN is to find new pathways for capital to flow to CDFIs so they can lend at affordable rates and terms to local borrowers. Prior to OFN, Andrea held positions at Freddie Mac (New Initiatives and Change Management, Investments & Capital Markets), Capital Impact Partners (Investments and Structured Finance), and Delphos International (Financial Analyst).
Andrea holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder designation from the CFA Institute (Charlottesville, VA), a BA from Centre College (Danville, KY), and an MA from the George Washington University (Washington, DC).
