Editorial Intern
This position is often fast-paced and can offer an eager and diligent individual the opportunity to learn about the publishing industry first-hand. The job includes reading manuscripts, keeping a log of the mail, preparing submission letters and other mailings, placing calls for agents, and tracking submissions made to publishers. Interns may also be required to attend some evening and weekend events. Candidates will have an opportunity to learn or improve skills such as copyediting and proofreading.
We need a highly committed, organized, and detail-oriented individual. It is essential to be able to prioritize tasks appropriately as well as to budget time creatively. We’re looking for someone interested in learning how best sellers are made. They must be able to do light market research and must be web savvy.
The ideal candidate will have some office experience, be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, have a typing speed of 65 wpm, and be a fast reader. Publicity/Marketing Intern
We are looking for a dedicated and curious publicity intern who will assist in all aspects of publicity and marketing related to Serendipity Literary Agency. The position responsibilities will include designing and formatting promotional material, contacting blogs and other media outlets for publicity opportunities, editing and updating the new website, updating our database of clients and publicity contacts, researching and developing new viral marketing opportunities, and contacting publishers and other media outlets.
